Story
Hey :)
As many of you know, my dad was diagnosed with bowel cancer in September last year, which is why I traveled back to Australia despite it being incredibly challenging to do so. Since September, my dad has had two three-month rounds of chemotherapy and two major surgeries. It was the most challenging time of my life (let alone what he endured), and I can't begin to explain what an eye-opening and emotionally confronting experience it was at many times.
On the other hand, the strength and resilience of my amazing father and our family has given me a new sense of meaning. I was also inspired by many of the people I met in the hospital.
Bowel cancer is actually one of the most treatable forms of cancer if detected early - and early detection could have saved us a lot of anguish. That's why this Bowel Cancer Awareness Month (June 2021) and for Red Apple Day, I'm raising money for Bowel Cancer Australia - a cause that is now very close to my heart.
As it were, I despise red delicious apples, but my dad loves them. I think they taste like old blueberries and I can't understand why they are still being harvested. However, to celebrate the cause and my dad, I will eat one every day for the rest of the month.
Thanks so much for reading and lots of love,
Tiahn
